Front-end Development

Croissant Boy

My first multi-page responsive website that I coded during my SheCodes Responsive workshop.

We were tasked with building a responsive website on the topic of croissants with a navigation bar and some basic content. I felt the prompt was very dry so I took the creative freedom to create a little croissant mascot, add an image gallery that expands on hover, and give the recipe card a highlight feature to help users follow along easier.

Challenges

Initially I was overwhelmed at the thought of coding a website that is compatible with multiple browsers and device screens.
There are so many devices out there!

I had a hard time trying to get a grasp of the Bootstrap framework since I had never used a framework before. At times it felt like I kept running into a brick wall repeatedly until something clicked.

Solutions

After trying to brute force different solutions and wacky ideas I had, what ultimately helped me was to take a step back and read through some of the Bootstrap documentation. I also asked for help in our Slack channel and received some good information on how flexbox worked from our mentors.

Learning Points

It's okay to ask for help when you need it.
When you get stuck, take a break and come back with a fresh perspective.
