Front-end Development
Know-It-Owl is a React dictionary app where you can search for a word and receive the pronunciation, definitions, and images related to your search. This was my final project for my SheCodes React workshop and I drew Owlbert as the unofficial mascot for my app.
Tools + Languages
Web Development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, API integration, Bootstrap Framework, Git Version Control
Design & Illustration: Figma, Procreate, Photoshop
Challenges
Using React for the first time was a bit difficult for me as I had just barely completed the JavaScript workshop and barely felt comfortable coding with JS. Even though I did not know much of the syntax and concepts of React, I instantly realized how powerful and efficient the JS library is and knew I had to learn it eventually.
Solutions
Honestly, there was just a lot of re-watching my course lessons, googling answers, and scouring StackOverflow posts to gain enough of an understanding to complete this project.
Learning Points
At times there's no easy solution, only good ol' hard work and dedication!
I'm interested in full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities - especially for junior web development roles. Open to design roles & collaborations!
